The University of Cologne’s International Office celebrates its 90th anniversary

On September 12, a celebration to mark the 90th anniversary of the International Office will take place in the Aula (main auditorium) of the University.

The International Office will mark its 90th birthday with the event “Countdown to 100 – Lessons from the Past and Visions for Tomorrow.”

Date:
Wednesday, 12 September 2018, 4.00 pm

“Countdown to 100 – Lessons from the Past and Visions for Tomorrow”

Aula (main auditorium), Albertus-Magnus-Platz, 50931 Köln

The International Office takes its historical heritage as the point of departure to develop a vision for the future of internationalization at the University. The first part of a publication, “History of the International Office of the University 1928–2018,” will be available in time for the anniversary event.

At the founding meeting of the “Akademische Auslandsstelle” of the University of Cologne, the predecessor of today’s International Office, on 2 February 1928, the message of Konrad Adenauer, at the time the mayor of Cologne, was already clear: “I very much welcome the efforts to promote the studies of foreigners at our university. I believe that our university is particularly suitable for this purpose.” The International Office continues to be guided by this motto – with a view to the future.
