International Cologne Winter Language Courses

in German Language and Culture 2018 - dates, target groups, information - only for DAAD scholarship students!!!

Course dates:
15.1. - 23.2.2018

Course Content/Levels:
a) 1 intensive course training general language skills (20 teaching units per week)
    level: from CEF B1
b) 1 intensive course training general language skills (20 teaching units per week)
     level: from CEF B2

an additional work shop - 4 teaching units per week each:
Grammar or Listening Comprehension

Teaching units per week:
20 teaching units per intensive course + 4 teaching units of workshops in addition (according to personal choice) - 1 teaching unit (= 45 minutes)

Participants/Target groups:
students with DAAD scholarship (students of all subjects with a good basic knowledge of the German language and with a very good command of the German language)

Registration deadline:
31.5.2017 at the DAAD 

Number of participants:
a maximum of 15 per course

Course fees:
620,- EURO for the language course and the culture programme/leisure time activities excluding accommodation and board; the course fee includes 50% of the ticket for the public transportation system in Cologne.

Examinations and certificates:
At the end of the winter language course a written examination takes place. Students who pass this final examination and who have attended the course regularly receive an ECTS-certificate (9 ECTS credit points).

Participants who do not wish to take the final examination receive a confirmation of attendance without a grade.

Accommodation/board:
a) twin rooms in student dormitories (without board)
price: from € 680,- to € 720,-;
b) accommodation with a family (from € 720,- to € 780,- - board available on request)
It is possible to have lunch in the dining hall of the university at the students' prices (Mensa).

Excursions/leisure time activities (predominantly included in the course fee):
guided city tour, guided tour of the Cathedral, visits to the theatre and the Philharmonic Hall, excursions in the surroundings of Cologne, company visit, museums, film evenings, welcome party, farewell dinner

Additional information:
a) On the first day of the course the students have to take a placement test. The result will determine the course to attend.
b) Minimum number of participants per course/additional work shop: 8.
