Professor Yoichi Ando listed as a "Highly Cited Researcher"
Yoichi Ando has been listed as a Highly Cited Researchers for 2017 in the field of physics. This ranking, conducted by the company Clarivate Analytics, lists the top 1% of highly cited and influential scientists in a given field.

Ando joined the University of Cologne as a professor in 2015 and works at the Institute of Physics II as an experimental physicist. His research focuses on topological insulators and superconductors, aiming at the creation of topological Majorana states as a building block for future quantum computers. This research would contribute to developing new computing and networking architectures that utilize the principle of quantum mechanics, in which extremely fast processing units could be modularly realized and optically connected to each other. Their computing and networking capacity would by far surpass that of existing technologies and make quantum computers powerful tools in the design of new materials and drugs, and in making communication safer.
