The Challenge of Change and Complexity

The University of Cologne Institutional Strategy (UoC IS) is instrumental in the long-term sustainable development of the UoC’s goal of achieving its vision of becomming a leading international institution for excellence in research and education.

The UoC IS has defined major goals, which will be achieved through the following objectives:

  1. Measure 1: Key Profile Areas and Competence Areas
  2. Measure 2: The UoC Excellent Research Support Program
  3. Measure 3: The UoC Graduate and Young Researcher Program
  4. Measure 4: The UoC Corporate Development Initiative
  5. Measure 5: The Research Alliance Cologne
  6. Measure 6: The UoC International Faculty Program
  7. Measure 7: The Gender Mainstreaming Program

Within the framework of the Excellence Initiative, the UoC has also received funding for two Clusters of Excellence

 

and two Graduate Schools

 

The University of Cologne is one of eleven German Universities of Excellence since 2012.

The Excellence Initiative is carried out jointly by the DFG and the WR and is being funded by the German Government and the Federal States. The funding has been granted for a period of five years (Nov. 2012 – Oct. 2017).
