Building Plans

The University of Cologne counts well over 200 buildings. Since 2003, they have been recorded in a central and neatly arranged “Guidance and Building Identification Scheme” (Wegeleit- und Gebäudekennzeichnungssystem). Searching for the right building should thus no longer present a problem. In addition, the layout and floor plans of the central buildings will help you find your bearings inside.

Auditorium Floor Plans

Finding the right auditorium or seminar room in the central buildings is easy. You simply have to follow this rule: rooms bearing Roman numerals are in most cases located in the Main Building (Hauptgebäude) or the building of the Management, Economics and Social Sciences Faculty (WiSo-Gebäude); auditoriums featuring letters are situated in the Lecture Building (Hörsaalgebäude), whereas rooms with an “S” plus Arabic numerals are in the building of the Arts and Humanities Faculty (Philosophikum), and those with an “R” plus Arabic numerals are found on the premises of the Faculty of Education. Exceptions to this basic rule are, for example, the auditoriums and lecture rooms of the Institutes for Physics and Chemistry. Our clearly laid out floor plans will reliably direct you to the required course venues.

Further information

Room Occupancy

Using the virtual room occupancy plan, you can start a targeted search to find out which lecture or seminar rooms have been booked at what time and for what courses.
