Science communication

Science communication is of central importance for the University of Cologne: it generates attention for new discoveries, places research results in a broader context and strengthens confidence in the science system through dialogue with the public. At the same time, it accompanies science critically and questions developments with regard to their ethical and social effects. In doing so, it meets the legitimate demands of society and politics to learn more from research.

Already today, UoC - coordinated by the Department of Communication and Marketing - is a strong and award-winning player in science communication. In addition to the Cologne University Magazine, which provides both analogue and digital information on current UzK research, the University communicates in all relevant social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube). Within the framework of the planned UoC Science Media Center, science communication is to be further expanded and professionalized in order to make the university's excellent research experienceable and comprehensible for society.
