Suat Yilmaz: "Talents. The smartest investment in our future."

On May 14, 2019 at 4 p.m. Suat Yilmaz, social scientist and first talent scout at a German university, will give his keynote speech on "Talents. The smartest investment in our future."  Yilmaz deals with the question of educational justice within Germany, also on the basis of personal experience:

"Many scientific findings prove an asymmetry of justice in the German education system: in Germany, origin is far too often decisive for the future! At the same time, there is no serious empirical basis for a connection between existing talent and social or even ethnic origin.  If we want to break down the reproduction of precarious circumstances in life, we must see the performance of pupils in the socio-economic context of life.

A rich country like Germany cannot afford to continue losing so many talents. The positive aspect of this is that we know who these hidden talents are, where they live, why they don't advance and which instruments help."

After the lecture there will be the opportunity to ask questions and participate in a discussion.

The event will take place in the conference room of the seminar building and is open to all interested parties.
