The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is an autonomous institute which was established in 1973. IIMB consistently figures among the top business schools in India in domestic and international surveys.

In the Business Today 2012 rankings, IIMB has come out in top position. For the fifth consecutive year IIMB has been nominated the best school in the region by Eduniversal, and retained its 'Five Palmes' status as a 'Universal Business School with Major Influence' in 2012. The Institute received the NCPEDP-Mphasis Universal Design Award 2012 for pioneering work in the field of promoting Accessibility and Universal Design and ensuring life of equality and dignity for disabled people.

IIMB's focus on research and education in the area of management is enabled by faculty from amongst leading universities worldwide who are actively engaged in research, teaching, consulting and pedagogy development.

 

Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI)

The Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI) was founded in 1956.  With undying faith and deep devotion to Mahatma Gandhi’s revolutionary concept of ‘Nai Talim’ system of education, Gandhigram Rural Institute has developed academic programmes in Rural Development, Rural Economics and Extension Education, Rural Oriented Sciences, Cooperation, Development Administration, Rural Sociology, English and Communicative Studies, and, Tamil and Indian Languages.

Students who emerge from its portals tend to meet the personnel needs for rural development under various governmental and non-governmental schemes. The work of the Institute invited national attention and the Government of India (Ministry of Education), on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission, conferred the status of a Deemed University on the Institute under Section (3) of the UGC Act of 1956, on 3rd August, 1976.

Today, it has become a nationally and internationally recognised Institute for its contribution to rural education, so much so that the New Education Policy of the Nation reflects the principles evolved here in developing the rural university concept.

The Department of Political Science and Development Administration of GRI is the partner in the Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CMIS-UC) Project.

 

VIT University established under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956, was founded in 1984 as a self-financing institution called the Vellore Engineering College. The Union Ministry of Human Resources Development conferred university status on Vellore Engineering College in 2001.

The objective at VIT is to create a dynamic environment that facilitates interaction and dialogue. To augment learning resources and promote interdisciplinary research, VIT has consolidated different disciplines into nine schools of excellence.

Academic Staff College (ASC) of VIT University is the partner in the Center for Modern Indian Studies (CMIS-UC) project.

 

The Agricultural College and Research institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) Coimbatore, came into existence in 1906. It is celebrating its centenary year which is a memorable period for each and every people of the University. The monument institution that has served humanity for hundred years. TNAU has been in the forefront in developing human resources for agricultural sector. Besides, students from other states in India and many countries, especially third world countries had agricultural education from this institute.

To meet ongoing strategies in Marketing, Agribusiness and Rural development, the Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development Studies (CARDS) was established in 1979. The Department of Agricultural and Rural Management (ARM) that is part of CARDS is to create synergy between technical and managerial skills. This is first of its kind in any Agricultural Universities in the country.
